The province of Ilocos Sur has recently celebrated its Kannawidan Ylocos Festival. This year marks the province’s 193rd year based on the Royal Decree dated February 2, 1818 separating Ilocos Sur from Ilocos Norte. Prior to this date, the stretch of Bangui in Ilocos Norte down to Luna La Union is called Ylocos which is a term to refer to the coastal inhabitants. It literally meant “from the lowlands”.
We celebrate the Kannawidan festival to restore our traditional culture.There are so many activities that they do during this festval like the Siglat Ilocandia,Sanyata and may more.They started last January 30,2012 the parade that participated by different School Marching Band.Every night many of the local artist join to celebrate this festival.One of the main highlightof this festival is the trade fair located at the side of the Provincial Capitol.Every Municipalities in Ilocos Sur have their own booth,they sell their own products.Many of the local or international tourist were visiting the trade fair.During aso the Kannawidsan ,they give cash prizesto all the winners that represent the provine of Ilocos Sur in different contest ,International or local.
Celebrating Kannawidan Ylocos festival is very exciting and enjoyable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
